Mrs. Missy Walker, Counselor
Missy Walker is a 1989 graduate of Boonville High School. She graduated from CMU with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1994 and later from Stephens College with a Master of Education in Counseling in 1999. She began her career in education with the Boonville School District in August of '94. This is her 27th year with the district. She taught 7th and 8th grade Language Arts for 6 years, was the LSE School Counselor for 17 years, and is now in her 4th year as a BHS School Counselor. She has been married to her husband Darin for 25 years, and they have two children - Ethan is 19 and Eli is 15. She loves the Kansas City Chiefs, exercising, cleaning (yes, seriously!), shopping, and spending time with Darin and the boys. She also has her own crafting business, Initial Designs.
When asked what made her want to pursue a career in counseling, Walker said “I've always been a ‘helper’ and growing up, my family nicknamed me ‘Mother Missy’ because I was always watching out for my siblings, helping them with their problems, and consoling them when they were upset. I guess you could say helping and nurturing are in my nature. When I became a teacher, students would frequently come to me for help with emotional issues.” She has too many great memories with the district to narrow it down to just one.
