Each year, BTEC seniors have the opportunity to complete the ACT WorkKeys assignment in the spring. We're excited to partner with the Missouri Dept of Higher Education & Workforce Development to provide this testing free of charge! More information about testing for 2026-27 will be released next semester. For now, let's answer some frequently asked questions:
Essentially, the WorkKeys Assessment is the Career & Technical Education (CTE) equivalent of the standard ACT. The WorkKeys measures essential workplace skills such as Applied Math, Workplace Documents, and Graphic Literacy. These are real-world skills that employers look for across a wide range of career fields. WorkKeys focuses on practical knowledge students use on the job every day.
WorkKeys helps students demonstrate they are career-ready and can earn the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC), a nationally recognized credential. This certificate shows employers that students have the skills needed to succeed in today’s workforce. It’s a strong addition to resumes, job applications, and postsecondary plans.
All BTEC seniors who are concentrators (earning 2 or more credit hours in a program area) will be taking the ACT WorkKeys Assessment. Best of all, this opportunity is provided free of charge to our students. We’re proud to support their future success by removing barriers and opening doors to career opportunities. If a senior concentrator has already taken a qualified College & Career Readiness exam (i.e. ACT, Accuplacer, etc.), they may speak with Mrs. Knipp about opting out of the WorkKeys Assessment.
