Mrs. Kenya Thompson, Principal

I am very proud and excited to be the principal at Boonville High School for the 202-23 school year. This is my 16th year working in education, my10th year as a principal and my 2nd year as the principal at BHS.  I love my job as a principal! I get to work alongside great teachers, students, and families every day.

As an educator, I have taught social studies, Advanced Placement US History, personal finance, and even a little geometry. In addition, I was afforded the opportunity to coach both softball and track. I hold an undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and earned my master’s degree and specialists degree from the University of Missouri in educational leadership and public policy.

I fiercely believe in the ability of all children to learn, the inherent dignity of each person, and the desire for everyone to achieve success. Our focus this year at BHS is to help students find purpose and sense of belonging. We are also committed to providing a rigorous course of study that pushes each student to reach their full potential.

Away from school, I’m an avid Notre Dame fan, “Go Irish!” and love cheering for the Chiefs. I became a coaches’ wife this summer, so I’m not at a Pirate event you might find me cheering for the Fayette Falcons. And, when you cannot find us in town, we are likely at the lake. I hope to meet each of you at school events, concerts, ball games, and any other BHS event. Please never hesitate to reach out if you have a question, concern, or a recommendation. Together we will always work to make the best educational decisions for your students.
